💰 The Deal Guy Newsletter - Issue #25

Plus, Early Black Friday Deals & Online-Only Costco Bargains!

Despite Black Friday being right around the corner, November is NOT all about savings! I’ll reveal which purchases you do not want to make during this very confusing month.

I’ll also reveal some of the most overlooked professionals who can help you save significantly on some of the biggest purchases of your life.

✋🏼 Do NOT Buy These Items In November

Computer Parts, Desktops and Accessories: Since Cyber Monday falls in December this year, most of your best computer-related purchases should be reserved for that occasion with the exception of some mid to entry level laptop deals that circulate Black Friday.

Jewelry: With the exception of a few major sales in November from folks like Zales, Blue Nile, Jame’s Allen and Kay Jewelry, the absolute lowest prices of the year appear around Valentine’s Day and in May for Mother’s Day.

High End Televisions: Black Friday is notorious for TV deals but the models sold are generally low and mid end televisions.

If you are searching for a top of the line OLED or something with a 120hz+ refresh rate, the weeks leading in to the Super Bowl in February are the best promotions for high end TV’s.

Toys: The two weeks that precede Christmas offer the absolute most aggressive toy price reductions of the entire year.

If you can wait, I would! Otherwise, select toys from major manufacturers will still see discounts (just not as steep) on Black Friday.

Fitness Equipment: The best deals on fitness equipment are typically in January when the "New Year, New You" promotions kick in.

Otherwise, select pieces of fitness equipment will be discounted in November from Amazon, Costco, Sam’s Club and Best Buy.

👔 5 Overlooked Pros Who Can Save You $$$

Travel Agent: The profession may seem outdated, but savvy travel agents can still unlock exclusive airline and hotel discounts.

Virtuoso is an example of an easy to use Travel Agent service.

For example, when I book hotels, I ask my local agent for a “HyattPrive” rate—up to 30% off standard prices—that only they can access.

Financial Planner: You don’t need to be wealthy to benefit from a financial planner; even in my tightest financial times, a planner helped me manage and pay off my debt faster.

If you have financially dependent kids, it’s never too early to start key conversations about money.

Insurance Broker: While you could call a national hotline for car, home, or other insurance needs, a good independent insurance agent can advocate for you during claims and offer extra support.

They can also negotiate lower rates on RV, home, and vehicle insurance than national call centers.

A Home Inspector: Most people only hire a home inspector when buying or selling, but they can also help diagnose issues in your home. We had a mysterious leak that appeared to be tied to one corner of our roof but no roofer we contacted was able to stop the water intrusion.

The second I contacted a home inspector, he was able to quickly link the problem to some siding on our home and the issue was sold in five minutes (after almost two year’s of unsuccessful patch work).

A Well Trained Accountant: I’m good with numbers and know tax liabilities, but I still prefer using an accountant—especially if you work from home with overlapping personal deductions.

Many certified accountants also offer “tax shield audit protection,” a low-cost insurance covering legal/tax help in case of an audit.
