🚫 Do NOT Buy These Things in June

❌ Tech & TVs: Laptops, tablets, gaming consoles, and even home security kits are all priced in limbo right now with the exception of a few warehouse club finds. Better deals are on the horizon with Prime Day (expected mid-July)

❌ Mattresses: If you missed the Memorial Day promos, don’t settle for what’s left in June. Labor Day is your next big window for major mattress markdowns.

❌ Patio Furniture: Retailers keep prices high through June. The real clearance starts after July 4th, especially on outdoor sectionals and full dining sets.

❌ Swimwear: It’s still peak-season pricing. Expect better deals closer to late July when stores start prepping for back-to-school. And a reminder, back to school deals aren’t actually worthwhile until the first week of August in most cases.

❌ Grills: Despite some decent grill accessory deals for Father’s Day, Memorial Day had stronger grill and barbecue promos. If it’s not urgent, wait until July 4th for better prices on premium models and bundles.

📚 Up To 70% OFF School Supplies: Staples just launched a huge school supply sale with prices starting at just 35¢. From notebooks and pencils to backpacks and printers, everything’s marked down through June 14.

🪑 IKEA Summer Sale Now Live: What I might consider the store’s best sale of the year includes hundreds of items marked down through June 30th.

My favorite discounts are 50% off outdoor lighting and 50% off select plant pots + loyalty members get an extra 10% off.

💰 NEW $20 AMAZON CREDIT: Spend $80 on everyday P&G items like Tide, Bounty, or Pampers and get $20 back on Amazon for a limited time.

🛞 Walmart Tire Rollbacks Are Back: Just in time for summer driving or any road warriors, Walmart dropped prices on top tire brands like Goodyear and Michelin online and in-store.

🎟️ Bank of America’s Free Museum Perk: As one of my favorite credit promos anywhere, BoA credit and debit cardholders get free museum entry the first full weekend of every month at 100+ locations nationwide.

🔧 Free Tool Promo Returns: Lowe’s “Father’s Day” sale is live until next weekend where if you buy select power tool kits, you score a free tool as well.

✅ Top 5 Things to Buy in June

❄️ Air Conditioners & Portable Coolers: Prices are lower now than they’ll be in July (when heatwaves and demand are higher). Walmart, Costco, and Home Depot all have early-season deals.

🛠️ Tools & Garage Gear: Father’s Day promotions include bundled tool sets, shop vacs, and garage storage deals at Lowe’s and Amazon. Many sales will last all month.

💪 Gym Memberships & At-Home Fitness: June is a slow season for gyms with many of us finally getting outside. Look for free trials, plus markdowns on dumbbells and resistance bands.

🌱 Insect Control & Garden Clearance: Now’s the time to grab mosquito sprays, citronella candles, and garden supplies. Some stores are already clearing stock.

👡 Summer Sandals: Big-name brands are on sale at Kohl’s, Amazon, and warehouse clubs. The first wave of summer markdowns is live although most apparel deals aren’t on clearance until the very end of this month.

✍🏼 SHARE YOUR SAVINGS!

From Laurel: "I put things in my online shopping cart and then wait a few days. Often, but not always, the company will send me an email about my cart and offer my either free shipping, or a further discount. It doesn’t work all the time but it is worth a try!!!!”

From Aspen in Tampa: "If you have an upcoming special event, go try on dresses in store to get your size and fit. Then go to poshmark (or similar site) and see if you can find it used. Then sell it after the event. We only use these dresses once!”

From Maria: “Whenever I purchase anything, if I use a coupon or get a discount, I transfer the saved amount to my online savings account. That way, the discount is really saved and I don’t dissipate it away for some later purchases.”
