🚨 NEW Shopping Info You NEED To Know!
🧾 UPCOMING TAX-FREE WEEKENDS: These 17 states offer sales tax holidays on school supplies, clothing, and electronics this summer. I’ll also rank the best back to school stores and sales later on in the newsletter.

💄 BUY 1 GET 1 BEAUTY SALE: Ulta has just launched a brand new BOGO sale on some of their most popular travel sized beauty and skincare items. (Sale ends August 2nd)

😭 GOODBYE TO TARGET PRICE MATCHING? A supposed internal memo leaked on Reddit suggests Target’s once awesome price match policy is about to tank. Target may stop price matching Amazon and Walmart after July 28 and only price match itself which I find bizarre.

NORDSTROM ANNIVERSARY SALE IS BACK!: Fall clothing, shoes, beauty, and home items are marked down substantially until August 3rd. Even if you never shop Nordstrom, you might be pleasantly surprised.

📚 How to Score Back to School Bargains in 2025
I surveyed the stores and crunched the numbers. Here is where I’ve ranked the retailers with the most back to school steals and how I might prioritize my shopping trips.
🏆 Best Store Overall is Walmart: Over 100 items are under $1 right now. 24-count Crayola crayons are 50 cents and their basic supplies beat Dollar Tree pricing by a long shot.
🎒 Backpacks: Both Walmart and Target currently have backpacks for $5, but if you’re looking for something cheap with characters your kids know and love, the Dollar Tree Plus section is still your best bet. Speaking of backpacks, Staples has a deal right now where if you buy a backpack you get an additional 25% off on their selection of school supplies. (In-store only).
💻 Tech: If you’re looking for cheap Chromebooks, Best Buy is your best bet. They have daily flash sales, with prices sometimes as low as $109! If you’re looking for more powerful options or Apple laptops, Costco will always be my #1 choice.
✏️ General School Supplies: While I know they often seem like stores of the past, both OfficeMax and Staples are really coming through this year with their pricing. OfficeMax has folders, crayons and composition books all under $1! Staples offers similar savings on glue, pencils and folders.
🎓 College: Amazon's off-to-college hub has superb deals on bedding, lamps, storage and tech. While this section didn’t blow me away in 2024, I was quite impressed this year. For even more savings, I’d also check out their new under $5 section on Amazon Haul.

Here are some recent subscriber submitted money-saving tips:
Rocio from Chicago writes: “Using the Walgreens app - you can get "Just for you" coupons on repeat items bought, also at times buying through the app (I pick up in-store) you can get better deals on regular/sale prices.”
Jim from Florida writes: “Staples matched a Walmart calculator deal and gave me 10 percent off on top. That extra savings was worth asking for.”
Linda from Arizona writes: “We now run laundry at night and unplug chargers. Our June electric bill dropped $19 from this small change alone”

🛑 DO NOT BUY THESE THINGS UNTIL AUGUST
With less than 10 days left in July, avoiding a few major buys can save you big bucks:
❌ Indoor Furniture & Large Appliances: Couches, dining sets, fridges and washers rarely see deep discounts in July. Labor Day weekend brings some of the biggest price drops of the year and deals start to trickle in mid-August.
❌ Mattresses & Bedding: Skip the sheets and mattress deals for now. August and early September are prime time for bedding blowouts and mattress markdowns.
❌ Summer Gear & Fashion: Retailers won’t clear out summer clothing, patio furniture and pool gear until August 6th. With the exception of warehouse club offering discounts in these categories, I’d hold off if you can.
