🚨 NEW Shopping Info You NEED To Know!

🛍️ TJ Maxx Yellow Tag Sale Is Live: This huge savings event where prices drop 75% to 83% on clothing, shoes, home goods / seasonal items is finally back!

The only downside is it’s in store only, and once it’s gone, you won’t see it again until June.

💳 Free $10 from Best Buy: Check your email because Best Buy is sending select shoppers a free $10 reward certificate.

I received one myself and there doesn’t seem to be any catch. It does expire January 18th though so time is limited.

💰 NEW AMAZON CREDITS: Here are three brand new opportunities to save some cash while shopping on Amazon this New Year:

🚗 Free $15 Lyft Credit! You can create a free Alaska Airlines or Hawaiian Airlines Atmos account, or use one you already have, then link it with Lyft by January 14 (this Wednesday), for a free $15 ride credit that’s good through January 31.

📦 $7.98 Big Storage Bins at Lowes: Large 27 gallon storage bins are yours for the taking at Lowe’s for $7.98! Make sure you are signed into Lowes account for this deal to appear (otherwise it’s free to create a Lowes account).

This is an incredible deal that’s ready for any New Year organization projects or long term storage.

✈️ 2 Stellar Sites Before You Book Your Next Flight: With SeatGuru no longer available to aid travellers, I’ve heard from many of you looking for alternative sites to ensure you never book a bad airplane seat again.

SeatMaps: This is the closest match to the old SeatGuru with clear seat maps, legroom notes, photos, and cabin layouts for most major airlines.

Aerolopa: This soon to be redesigned website focuses on extremely detailed aircraft diagrams that show exact seat placement, window alignment, and cabin layout. It does not rate seats, but the accuracy makes it great for picking the best spot on any flight.

✍🏼 SHARE YOUR SAVINGS!

Here are some recent subscriber submitted money-saving tips:

Pete from CA writes: “I started checking the clearance end caps at Target during weekday mornings. I find better markdowns and less competition and it helped me cut my household item spending by almost half.”

Linda from OR writes: “Here is a deal for you… I just purchased a Cadillac Vistiq (EV) and received a $1250 rebate by being an executive Costco member. It was a great perk.”

Jan writes: (in response to my prior email highlight stores now charging for returns): Bed Bath & Beyond does not give you a refund, they will only give you a store credit and they charge shipping. Wayfair (also) charges shipping for returns.

Reply to this email and share it with me! If I feature your tip, I’ll give you a shoutout in next week’s newsletter!

🗓️ How To Save On New Year’s Resolutions

💪 Gym Memberships: Many insurance plans include fitness programs like Blue365 through Blue Cross, Renew Active by United, GlobalFit by Aetna, that give you access to multiple gyms in your area for under $30 per month. AARP members get discounts at Snap Fitness, 24 Hour Fitness, and Pure Barre which cuts 20% to 30% off monthly rates.

💰 Automated Savings: Move $20 to $50 weekly into a high yield savings account earning over 4%. This builds savings automatically and adds up faster than most people expect.

Coffee Spending: Brewing at home costs $0.20 to $0.40 per cup compared to $4 to $6 at cafes. Limiting coffee shop visits to 2 days per week saves $40 to $80 monthly.

🧽 Cleaning Routine: Concentrated cleaners from Costco or Sam’s cut supply costs by up to 50%. Ten minute daily cleanups reduce clutter and help you avoid buying storage products you do not need.

🎁 Gift Planning: Keep a small tote of January clearance items for inexpensive gifts later on in the year. This eliminates last minute premium priced purchases.

🛠️ Home Repairs: Home Depot offers free classes that prevent unnecessary service calls for simple fixes with a large database that you can search through online.

🍽️ Meal Prep: Cooking 2 large meals per week cuts takeout spending by $80 to $150. Slow cookers and sheet pan recipes keep prep simple.

💳 Subscription Costs: Switch monthly subscriptions to annual billing and save 10% to 25%. You can use apps like Rocket Money (who were kind enough to sponsor my latest video) to catch forgotten sign ups before they hit your card and when it comes to streaming, rotate streaming services instead of keeping several active. This approach saves $30 to $60 each month without losing shows.

💬 Ask The Deal Guy

To get your question answered, simply respond to this email with any money-saving related question and feel free to include your first name so I can address you properly.

💡 Sharon Asks: “We desperately need a new mattress. When is a good time to buy and what stores offer the best new year pricing? (Princess asked a similar question and wanted to know if Nectar was a good brand)

Hi Sharon! The deals will come but if you wait just a month, the best deals you’ll find for the first quarter of 2026 occur the second week of February as we count down to President’s Day and Valentine’s Day. I’d keep an eye on Amazon and Macy’s.

Hi Princess, my advice to you is the same but with regards to Nectar, they are a great brand. You’ll find deals from them the 2nd week of February directly on their website and on Amazon. Personally, I love Serta and you’ll see big reductions from them too.

💡 Heidi Asks:I'm looking for a deal on a walking pad with high weight limit. I figured with New Year's Resolutions, there may be some good deals.”

You are right Heidi.. the best deals are available right now for this category. One of the best walking pads I’ve seen is this model with an up to 450 pound weight capacity, an incline and user-friendly interface. Compared to the models in the $200 range, this is much more sturdy and worth the extra money in my opinion.

💡Alicia Asks: Hello Matt. I love your channel! I go so far as to urge everyone I know to follow you! My question is; when is a good time to purchase an outdoor shed. Thank you, I love you!

Alicia, you’re clearly a YouTube subscriber and your sign-off on your question is perfection. Late summer into early fall is when Home Depot, Lowes, and Costco / Sam’s clear out seasonal inventory and prices drop up to 50%. The second best time July 4th when retailers run 30 - 40% off promotions . If you can’t wait, Memorial Day will bring discounts closer to 20% off.
