💰 The Deal Guy Newsletter - Issue #23

Plus, New Amazon Gas Savings + Exclusive Giveaway Information!

In this week's newsletter, we cover some incredible “better-than-Black-Friday” clearance finds to keep an eye out for as October comes to a close.

I also wanted to shine a light on some products that despite inflation actually cost you less now than they have in prior years.

🏷️ 5 Things To Buy On Clearance BEFORE Black Friday

Early Winter Clothing Items: No, this is not a typo! Since stores operate WAY too far ahead for the average consumer, the lighter winter jackets and coats that debuted online at the end of August are now fantastic clearance finds.

Here are a few examples at Macy’s, Gap and one of my favorites for designer brand names at 6pm.

Home Security Items: With many people traveling for the holidays and Thanksgiving, Black Friday sales on smart doorbells, surveillance systems and DIY alarms are not as enticing or applicable. That’s why stores are fixated on this time of the year as well.

Best Buy and Costco are running phenomenal sales right now on a surprising number of products.

Fall Leaf Blowers, Grills and Anything Patio: For obvious reasons, with at least 60% of the country subject to at least some snow or close to freezing temperatures soon, stores are liquidating absolutely everything that takes up warehouse space.

Clearance Leaf Blowers and Outdoor Power Equipment

Kitchen Cabinetries and Vanities: Very few DIY upgrades and home renovations take place this time of year. Retailers like Lowes and Home Depot are doing everything they can to entice you to spend, even if the project you have in mind gets delayed during the holiday months.

Select Appliances: If you need a bundle of appliances, absolutely wait for Black Friday but if you have a washing machine or dishwasher on the fritz, some clearance deals are better now or at least on par with what we’ll see for the big sale days ahead.

Best Buy has one of the strongest appliance clearance sales in effect right now.

4 Purchases That Have Dodged Inflation (For Now..)

Electronics: Tech companies overstocked heavily during and after the pandemic which still affects pricing to this day.

TV’s are almost a disposable commodity with certain liquidation deals in November and October. PC’s, Audio, wearables (non Apple products) and other bluetooth accessories are liquidated throughout the year.

Clothing and Apparel: Retailers across the board seem to have difficulty judging consumer spending habits and timing their sales.

Originally an industry plagued by supply chain issues, you can now find sales almost every day of the year with clearance pricing a regular occurrence at the start and end of the months.

Home Appliances: In addition to the Black Friday, President’s Day, Labor Day and shopping event sales that used to last a few days, these sales now extend for weeks meaning last year's models are almost always on sale including right now!

Streaming Services: The streaming market remains competitive and is actually threatened by the lower cable and satellite bundles now starting to lure back customers that cut the cord.

It’s a regular things to find streaming deals year around and especially over the holiday period.

Receipt Hog is a simple app that rewards you for snapping photos of your receipts. Just upload receipts from any store, earn coins, and redeem them for gift cards or cash via PayPal.

There are many apps and services that will pay you small amounts of money over time by uploading your receipts. The uploading and various technical hoops to jump through aren’t always my cup of tea. That recently changed with Receipt Hog. I was able to make around $12 for two week’s of groceries and shopping. While that isn’t life-changing, every bit adds up.

It’s easy to use… there is no hunting for specific products or product bar codes to scan. Plus, you can earn bonus rewards through fun features like reel spins, making every shopping trip a chance to save. Find out more by clicking here.
